Literature Text

Such a sweet sadness fills
Spills from this upturned heart of mine.
Only a few sips from yours
Satisfied the taste my heart craved.
You left, it fell, and it hit the floor.
Not a glassy cascade, just a pour.
No not an extended crinkle of glass
To extend the pain not past.
Just a Crack…
Plain, mechanical, efficient.
Such is the lesson for emotions
Upon which one is dependant.
Yet these tears won't fall
Until your hands are there to catch them.

With every new day comes a horizon,
And what blinding a morn comes!
I can take a full breath, desired air,
Freshened by the frigid night.
By heat my world is wakened,
My cheeks warmed by the returned.
She lifts the dew from off my brow
Having settled in endless night
And my heart leaps to capture her
Sweet words left floating for me.
I might have had a dream to live
But it's been erased in reality.
But these new tears won't fall
Until you are ready to catch them.
I cannot remember when I wrote this. Nor can I remember what vexed my heart enough to torture paper with pen (keyboard with fingertips) for this one. Thanks for reading!
